Energy Security: time for new ideas, technologies, resources

New Delhi: Even as the issue of economic growth takes centre stage in a world faced with financial uncertainty and a global slowdown, the optimum utilization of resources which fuels that growth is equally important said Mr Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Chairperson, Council on Energy, Environment and Water, as he opened the session on Resources: Enough for All? at the 1st Delhi Economics Conclave, organized by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Sharing his perspective, Mr Bill Shorten, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and Minister for Financial Services and Superannuation, Australia, said while optimal utilization of resources is very important, going forward technology will play a big role in discovering new resources and helping optimally utilize existing resources
Mr. Shorten said Australia is very alive to the India’s growth story and would like to forge closer ties with India, citing the examples of GVK Group and the Adani group which are working very closely with Australia.
Dr Vilayat Valiyev, Director, Institute for Scientific Research and Economic Reforms, Ministry of Economic Development, Azerbaijan, said that the Caspian region currently holds one of the world’s largest oil and gas reserves.
