Islamabad, Nov 23 (IANS) Pakistan will form a sports security task force to take care of visiting international teams, Interior Minister Rehman Malik says.

Malik Tuesday said the force would be tasked with ensuring the security of foreign teams.

At least six policemen were killed and as many Sri Lankan players as well as the bus driver and an assistant coach were injured in a terrorist attack in Lahore March 3, 2009.

Sri Lankan cricketers -- captain Mahela Jayawaredene, his deputy Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaraweera, Tharanga Paranavitana and Chaminda Vaas -- were injured when the team bus came under heavy attack from gunmen en route to the Gaddafi Stadium for a test match in Lahore.

The minister Tuesday said it was a good omen that India had allowed its blind cricket team to visit Pakistan to play matches, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s blind cricket team won the first match of the three matches series against India.

Rehman Malik said the visit of Indian blind cricket team to Pakistan is a positive development which would help strengthen ties between the two countries.
